The widespread commercialization of these children’s electronic toys is especially a 21st-century phenomenon. It mostly works on its user’s input through remote control or with batteries. Modern smart toys have electronics boards, which mostly consist of 1 or more microcontrollers (microprocessors), storage devices, and various sorts of input and output options. A study predicts that by 2025, the smart toy market will grow to more than 10 billion U.S. dollars. The factors driving the expansion of the smart toy field include the more sophisticated tastes of today’s young people.

The smart toy business grew out of several other product categories, which include children’s software, electronic toys, and video games. As compared to smart toys, many experts prefer open toys, such as building blocks, construction toys, dolls, etc. For example, a cardboard box becomes a pretend playhouse, and the child will not lose interest when playing. But a fashionable smart toy can quickly exhaust the child’s interest once its novelty has worn off.
