If you keep getting the same error message, go to Step 2.
Step 2: Make a new file for the test company
This step can help if the Bank and its servers cause the problem.
- From the QuickBooks company File menu, choose New Company and click on Express Start.
- Then give them a bank account (the one with the issues). Set up an account for Bank Feeds in the newly made test company.
- Then, to test the account, download Bank Feed transactions.
- If you keep getting the same error message, there must be an error with the Bank. If there are no error messages, it’s likely not the Bank’s fault.

- First, the user would need to make a copy of the company file in QuickBooks.
- Check the QuickBooks file for the inactive account that still has the lightning bolt.
- Then turn off the account of the online service.
- The user needs to rerun the Bank Feeds setup and hold down the Ctrl key each time they click a command. It would help if you did this throughout the process.
Step 4: Make a new account and merge it with the old one
- Click the right mouse button on the account that gives you trouble, and then click the Edit Account button.
- The user needs to click on Copy after highlighting the account name.
- At the end of the account name, type an asterisk (*).
- Click on Bank Feed Settings, then click on the button that says, “Deactivate All Online Services.”
- Click Save and Close to finish.
- Then, click on the Chart of Accounts to make a new account.
- Close and reopen the company file, then click on Chart of Accounts and Edit Account.
- Take out the asterisk, right-click on the account you want to choose, and click Save and Close.
- Click “Yes” and set up a Bank Feeds account when asked.
- Then transfer the transactions to the new account.
Step 5: Close down all of your online accounts
- At the bottom of the window is a section called “Chart of Accounts.” To include inactive accounts, check the box next to “Include inactive accounts,” and then click “Deactivate Bank feeds.”
