From Bexhill to Staffordshire: The Evolution of Motorsport Shows in the UK
Motorsport exhibitions have long been a cornerstone of British automotive culture, offering enthusiasts a chance to witness the evolution of racing machinery and technology. The tradition dates back to 1902 when Bexhill-on-Sea hosted the UK’s first motor racing event, earning its title as the “Birthplace of British Motor Racing.” Over the decades, these shows have transformed from simple gatherings into grand events that celebrate both the heritage and future of motorsport.
Continuing this legacy, the upcoming Power of Motorsport show is set to debut at Uttoxeter Racecourse in Staffordshire on May 31st and June 1st, 2025. Organised by Ignition Event Management, this event aims to become a staple in the motorsport calendar, blending live action with community spirit.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday evening with a Meet & Greet session, giving visitors the chance to interact with drivers and co-drivers while getting an up-close look at the machines. This is followed by “Tales from the Silly Seat,” where experienced co-drivers share fascinating stories from their time in motorsport.
On Sunday, the action begins at 9:30 AM with a thrilling demonstration stage featuring 60 motorsport vehicles across disciplines like rally, retro rallycross, and 4×4 off-roaders. Vehicles will run throughout the day, with the stage reversed in the afternoon for a fresh perspective.
Beyond the track, visitors can enjoy the Car Club Show & Shine Competition, explore the Trade Village, sample delights from the Food Court, and browse local creations in the Arts & Crafts Marquee. The Oval Zone will feature Heritage Stockcars, National Autograss, and stunt shows, while the Grassroots Auto Test area will inspire future racers.
The Power of Motorsport show captures the spirit of British motorsport history while offering an exciting day out for fans and families alike.
