Not cherishing the truth of life, the ignorant public lives in a great blind spot, treating death with great care, and lives without compassion. Being kind to others is not only a great compassion but also the Dharma of bodhisattvas.
Honoring Buddhist traditions, understanding religious devotions, attitudes, and customs of worship between family members are very crucial. Although it is a terminal rite, it helps family members emotionally face the same disaster bravely through relationships with the deceased people and friends. Whether children or adults, natives or immigrants, they all share the same values of family, loyalty to the country, and respect for Buddha, which are molded by the great national spirit. This spirit is also the core of the Buddha statue. Buddhism, which is a combination of culture and religion, has spread like a sea wave through centuries, with moral concept bubbling in the sea on the fiery shores of various lives at all levels.

2.2 Types of Columbarium Niches Available
As part of China’s traditional cultural heritage, people at that time were traditionally cremated. However, in an effort to achieve immortality after death, they were buried in earthen and wooden boxes. These efforts had been attempted for 2,000 years, and the results included preserved corpses that puzzled modern medical researchers. The concept of a Columbarium itself is a Buddhist tradition, with niche architecture originating during the early periods of Buddhist development. Designed as a housing unit for “venerated” human ash remains, the building form consists of an assembly of cubes. These lesser mortals, with less wealth and prestige, too wanted a niche that carried similar architecture for themselves. In time, under the influence of Buddhism, the practice of cremation as a funerary custom began to be applied to all.
Fu Gui Nirvana Memorial Park in Malaysia will provide the readers with a broad overview of the Buddhist religious ceremonies, including what can be expected at a typical Malaysian Chinese funeral. There are many traditional Chinese customs and traditions followed by the Buddhist community, in which one of the Buddhist teachings is concerning life and death. In the Buddhist doctrine, everyone’s destiny is life and death, with no exception. The teaching reminds one not to forget the importance of both life and living one’s life, and to face all circumstances and issues with equanimity. To prepare oneself for death, there is always the thought of building a magnificent mausoleum to eternally memorialize oneself. However, this only caters to the rich people who can afford to pay such high prices for a niche. Defy the natural and learn from history that everyone will come to face this outcome. Fu Gui Nirvana broke this tradition by offering the convenience of preparing for your afterlife beforehand, thus ensuring future generations can pay their respects and pray to their loved ones anytime, without limitations.
Maintenance and Care of Columbarium Niches
Poh can absorb moisture and even become slippery, so maintaining your niche’s interior cleanliness and dryness is your top priority. Use a soft dry brush to gently brush the poh off the figurines, altarpieces, and tablet, and collect them in a clean bag or box. Take the figurines to an area of deep breath and, using a mask, clean the figurine by slowly brushing the poh off over a trash bag, and then re-wrap the figurines in an absorbent clean cloth. Continue to the tablet and altarpiece as needed. Do not use strong solutions or water to clean the figurines as it may risk loosening the poh. Contact the onsite staff if you feel uncomfortable or require assistance or special care with the maintenance of your niche and its contents. Each niche is uniquely leased to different families. Ensure that the contents and appearances within the niche are managed with respect to the different traditions, cultures, beliefs, and symbolism.
All artifacts within the niches are precious and should be handled with the utmost care. To facilitate proper maintenance, with the exception of cleaning, dislodgment of the niche or its contents should never be attempted. If the urn’s lid should shift, please contact our staff for immediate attention. Niche design and permanently affixed urns are made to deter such instances, but minor shifts can happen over time with natural decomposition of organics such as bone ash. Previous niches have had minor shifts, and their external stability can be easily corrected with one of our staff. To maintain the integrity of your niche’s placement, please avoid moving the nicest point of attachment or leaning against the niche. Care should be taken to avert any likelihood of theft or defilement of the niche’s contents from outside of the columbarium, i.e. through the windows, etc. Preventing children, adults of limited capabilities, or errant balls from accidentally impacting your niche is a top priority and should be considered during your visit. High frequency of visiting a niche often avoids accidentally misspent.
