1. The Great Wall of China
With its length of more than 5,500 miles (9,000 kilometers), China’s Great Wall is considered one of mankind’s most impressive feats of construction.
Built from 220–206 B.C., it took hundreds of years to complete and was built in segments by different Chinese dynasties to protect their land from invaders.
According to The Great Wall of China: History & Facts, The wall was actually an intricate series of fortifications made up by ramparts, watch towers, beacon towers and a moat that ran through steep mountains, deserts and grasslands along what used to be called the Silk Road between China and Europe.
With its history making it worth a visit at least once in your lifetime.
2. Machu Picchu, Peru
This UNESCO-designated site is one of South America’s top tourist attractions and for good reason.
Nestled high in Peru’s Andes Mountains, Machu Picchu is renowned for its breathtaking vistas of nearby snow-capped peaks.
After you take in your fill of stunning scenery, head to some of Machu Picchu’s museums or simply explore the ancient Incan ruins at your leisure.
Regardless of how much time you spend on site, don’t be surprised if you come away feeling totally awestruck. The sheer beauty of Machu Picchu is enough to make anyone fall in love with it.
The only downside? It can get pretty crowded—but that’s what a visit during off-season is for!
3. Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
The Grand Canyon National Park is one of my favorite places in Arizona. You can spend days at a time hiking, or if you want to see it all and you’re short on time, hop on a bus and tour it.
This is by far one of my favorite attractions for several reasons. One reason being because it has such an interesting history behind it that isn’t widely known.
Another reason being because of how diverse it is; from its many attractions, like hiking along The Bright Angel Trail to taking in sights from aboard mules.
The Grand Canyon has something for everyone! If you have plans to visit Arizona any time soon – I highly recommend stopping by.
4. The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
Ever since Gustave Eiffel designed and built it for Paris’ 1889 World Fair, one of world’s most iconic structures has become a must-see for tourists across all five continents.
The Eiffel Tower draws more than seven million visitors per year and is so popular that its ticketing systems sometimes crash.
The structure, which is made of iron pylon girders and cables, rises 324 meters (1,063 feet) above Paris’ city streets.
More than 50,000 people ascend to see panoramic views of Paris from on top of it every day. The Eiffel Tower isn’t just famous for its iconic stature.
It also serves as a major telecommunications hub for French TV, radio and mobile phone companies.
A total renovation in 1992 repainted it in its original dark color scheme after it had been painted grey during World War II to avoid attracting attention from enemy aircrafts.
5. Moai Statues of Easter Island
Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, is a Polynesian island located 2,500 miles off of South America.
The island has become famous for its Moai statues, three-story stone statues carved and erected there between 1100 and 1680 AD.
This gorgeous place is worth visiting once in a lifetime.
The island is a big stretch of land that is beautifully covered in greenery and surrounded by deep blue water.
From its incredible view to its stately Moai statues, Easter Island will not disappoint.
Be sure to explore some of the breathtaking waterfalls, valleys, and sandy beaches on this precious island.
On Easter Island, the most famous tourist attraction is the Ahu Tongariki (Moai Statues), with more than 50 Moai statues.

Once you’ve seen photos of Petra, a picturesque tourist attraction in Jordan, it’s easy to see why it’s considered one of our planet’s most famous tourist attractions.
The city was carved from sandstone and is so impressive that National Geographic deemed it one of its must-see wonders.
It also has bragging rights as one of only seven new UNESCO World Heritage Sites added in 2017.
There are tons of things to do in Petra, including riding horses through narrow canyons and hiking up Mount Hor.
You’ll find plenty of places to stay nearby—we recommend checking out Hotel Amman for its great location near some top sights.
While you’re there, take a day trip outside of town to Wadi Rum for some stunning desert views or float on an inflatable mattress down Dead Sea.
7. Christ the Redeemer statue, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Situated atop a mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) is one of the most famous tourist attractions in all of South America.
This massive statue can be seen from far away and symbolizes both Christianity and Brazilian nationalism.

8. The Palace of Versailles, France
France is renowned for being a place where history comes to life, and nowhere else in Europe is that as true as it is at Versailles.
Although it’s not technically a royal palace – King Louis XIV of France used to live here.
Versailles was built as a show of wealth and power by France’s absolute monarchy.
The result is one of Europe’s most opulent palaces, filled with ornate artwork and furnishings that convey both splendor and refinement.
It is a beautiful place that is worth visiting
